Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker - Black/Silver (4 quart).Opens in a new window

Less than a week until Christmas everyone!  Are you freaking out yet?

This year has been a great one for me.  I love my life and my blog.  I will have a big announcement in the new year, so stay posted for that.

But for now let’s do a fun giveaway.  I spotted this cutest slow cooker ever and bought it because even though I don’t need it (I have 9 slow cookers, people) I knew that maybe one of you would.  So if you want this cute slow cooker enter the contest.

To enter:  All you have to do is go to this site, scroll down to 365 Days of Slow Cooking (around #22 right now), click “I like this”.  After you do that (it takes 1 minute or less) come back to this post and leave me a comment about what gift you are most excited to give this Christmas.

The giveaway will end January 1, 2012.  I will ship this to a U.S. address only.  Thanks and good luck!

I was excited to see my brothers eyes light up when I gave him restaurant gift cards and a box of steaks from omaha steaks. He lives with my mother while going through chemo and his tastes are some times too much for my mom to handle.

I would be sooo excited to get this shabby new crock pot. Mine broke on Chistmas morning while trying to keep my mashed potatoes warm… We are stationed in Korea for the Army and the crock pot pickins are slim… This would be so awesome!

My Dad and I gave my mother a laptop. She's been saying for years she didn't really want one, but we decided to give her one anyway. It turned out that she loved it – stayed on it most of the day! She had only said she didn't want one because she thought it was too much money. My Dad and I were so glad to see how much she enjoyed it. She's the kind of Mom who always puts others before herself, so she really deserved this little indulgence!

The best thing we did for Christmas, was focusing on our kids instead of our HUGE extended family. Providing really well for them, and not worrying about trying to provide for 9 nieces and nephews, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 sisters-in-law and 1 bil, not to mention all the aunts, uncles and other cousins…meant so much to us this year. Happy New Year!

Well, I just found your blog today. Christmas has already passed, but what I was most excited about giving this year was actually three gifts to people we never met. To teach my kiddos a lesson in giving, I asked them each to select a name from the Angel Tree in our local mall. They thought long and hard about who they chose and what to give them. Knowing that we made two children's Christmas a little brighter, and one eldery man's Christmas a little warmer, has been a gift in itself.

I volunteer for Junior League and I was very excited to help a 6 year old girl with her shopping list. Our class was the only one responsible for her Christmas gifts, and she received everything she wanted! At work we also sponsored a family in need, and I wrote a check for them to get a few things on the list. Giving back this year made the loss of dear family friends ( to cancer) easier to deal with, and made me thankful for what I have.

My son Liam is 12 and for Christmas he got some "swishy pants" (as he calls them)! and a skate board, he loved them. To his friends…we rolled up 1$ bills and tied each one w/red and green ribbon ($10.00 looks like a lot when rolled up individually), put them in a clear treat bag with a poem about a gingerbread man and Christmas dough…super cute and they LOVED it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Even though Christmas has already passed, I was most excited about giving the new main man in my life a zombie book all about the history of the un-dead. Yes, I am aware zombies and un-dead do not exist, however, through a series of strange events, it was the show The Walking Dead, that brought my boyfriend and I together. Strange? Yes, but after our first couple dates, we really had no chemistry and no interest in each other, but all of a sudden, when we both discovered that we like the show, we had something in common and things grew from there. So silly, but such a fun and actual meaningful gift that I got to give this year.

P.S. Thanks for your recipes. They are so great and delish!

I was most excited to see the look on my niece and nephews face this year when they opened up their christmas gifts. I know this sounds simple but I rarely see them and due to the economy, their parents financially were not able to do much and I was worried they wouldn't have many gifts this year. I just couldn't wait to see the smile on their faces…good feeling knowing that I was able to give them what they wanted ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your blog! The first recipe I tried was the Zuppa Toscana. Delicious, I have been asked for the recipe so many times. Tonight, it is Asian Lime Chicken. I only saw this contest for the slow cooker I must have, today–after Christmas. But the gift I was most excited to give was time with my family after a crazy semester for my husband and me who can now spend some quality time together and our 7 year old daughter. We have been able to spend time playing together which has been the best gift of all.

I could really use this slow cooker as mine is about to give up the ghost. She's not what she used to be! Not to mention a way to hold the lid in place while traveling, I have sloshed a lot of soup out of mine in the cooler I transport it in! With both of us in school full time and working, I would be lost without my slow cooker! Please pick me.

The gift I was most excited about giving this year was a T.V. for my husband. This Christmas was the first year my husband and I have been employed and in our own house since getting married two and half years ago… after being married for 4 months, the business cut his position and we moved back across the nation to live with my parents. Last year we were cut the day before Thanksgiving due to budget cuts and once again had to move in with family. This year, gainfully employed, I wanted to give my husband a gift to help him create his own "man cave", a dream he's had since before we got married. Needless to say, he was ecstatic!!!

While it has already happened, we were most excited about participating in the Christmas store in our community. This store allows families in need to select a coat, clothing, book and toy for the children in their household for free. The family gets a portrait made, the kids are entertained while a personal shopper helps the parent(s) pick out new gifts donated by the community, then while we wrap the gifts they sit back and enjoy Christmas snacks. My whole family – all 5 of us – volunteered. It was an amazing day. We already are looking forward to doing it again next Christmas.

I gave my 3-year-old niece (and namesake) a "tiwahwah" (tiara), Belle doll, and yellow princess gown — all things she'd wished for. She was SO excited! She pulled the princess gown on top of her pajamas and wore the tiara while she unwrapped other gifts.

I love cooking for my extended family, and this lovely crockpot would be a great help!

I was excited to give my family some new shoes, esp my Papa (grandfather). He always talks about how fast he goes through shoes (probably because he buys cheap ones). So I took him and my mom out to get some new shoes. He had a fit when he saw the price but hopefully they'll last longer than the ones he buys…I hope.

I took an envelope addressed to my aunt from her mom (my grandma) and enlarged it into a piece of framed artwork. It is her beautiful flowing handwriting that we all recognize. My grandma passed away almost 10 years ago and my aunt still misses her dearly. With technology today, handwriting is slowly becoming obsolete. Every time my aunt sees that writing it will remind her of the beauty of my grandma.

The gold is something they really want (this year a wii) the frankensense gift is something to strengthen their relationship to God, and the myrrh gift is something that they wear on their bodies… I love continuing this tradition!!

You are number 15 now!! The gift I was most excited about was helping a fellow coworker in need. A whole group of us decided that instead of exchanging gifts we would put the money we would spend doing this to help a coworker in another dept. have a nice Christmas. You see, she is a single mom with two small children and is having some health problems that even made her have to go to part time. We ended up being able to give her a sizable amount of money that she used to get Christmas for her kids. It was a heartwarming experience and one we decided to do yearly for someone in need.

We've decided to send them a food gift each month for the next few months to help out: Naumes Pears last month (Naumes gives 1 lb. of fruit to charity for every lb. you buy.), an unexpected treat from Omaha Steaks this month, another healthy food surprise next month, and so on. Taking care of my whole family is very important to me…especially at Christmas.

I am most excited to give my mom her gifts this year! I was able to get her an entire new work wardrobe by shopping sales this year. She lost a bunch of weight and desperately needs the new clothes, but won't spend the money on herself.

We are giving a Wii to our granddaughter and her family. They are a young family just starting out with a 1yr old baby and another due next summer. They always play on our Wii when they are here, so I know they will love it. They both work very hard and don't spend much on themselves so I'm glad we can surprise them with this.

I am most excited to give the "home made" gifts this year. I made a "coupon" book for my sister in law and some cds for my son. I plan on making a hot coco mix for my nephew complete with his own marshmallows! I also knitted my first REAL scarf this season and I'm hoping to give it to a single mom.

I bought my eight year-old daughter the cutest monster print on Etsy and they threw in another print for free, so my 2 1/2 year-old is getting one, too. Here's the print I bought my daughter. Isn't it adorable?

Karen, I am most excited about giving my family my homemade wine biscuits and banana bread. They all look forward to it every year. Since I only make the wine biscuits at Christmas it is really appreciated by everyone! The banana bread is made often & distributed though out the year but every enjoys it also.

I am most excited to give my daughter and son-in-law an item that they were saving up to buy for Christmas for their family. Instead of spending the money on themselves, they used the money (over $300.00) to ship 23 boxes of Christmas to soilders to Afghanistan and decided to forego their own Christmas gifts for this great cause.

Hi! I'm Karen

I know that dinner time can be less than relaxing. Busy schedules and cranky kids and a hundred other things can lead to weariness when it comes to putting dinner on the table. I can help! I make homemade, family-friendly slow cooker and Instant Pot dinners and share the recipes with you.
