Description
A German inspired version of a loose meat sandwich. It has tons of flavor with sausage, sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground pork sausage (spicy, if desired)
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup drained sauerkraut
- 1 green bell pepper, cored and diced
- 6 slices provolone or muenster cheese
- 6 pretzel or brioche buns (toasted is good!)
- Spicy brown mustard
Instructions
- Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the sausage and break it up. Add in the onions. Brown for about 5 minutes. Stir in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.
- Dump in the sauerkraut and green peppers.
- Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 3 minutes. When time is up move valve to venting and remove the lid.
- Stir well. If you’d like to thicken the mixture you can stir in a couple tablespoons of potato flakes or you can make a cornstarch slurry.
- Spread mustard on the buns. Scoop meat onto the buns. Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone. Serve and enjoy!
