Have you ever been at a friend’s house and noticed something she did in the kitchen that you hadn’t ever heard of before? It may have even caused you to exclaim, “I didn’t know that!” This has happened to me numerous times. I’m not a cook. I am a crockpot cook. Which means I know how to put ingredients in a big pot and flip the on switch. I like to learn new things and I’d like you to share them with me.
Each Tuesday, I’ll feature one of your tips (cooking, cleaning, storing, etc.) and I’ll call it Kichen Tip Tuesday (It just didn’t have the same ring to it when it was called kitchen tip monday). So email your tips to me.
AND for every tip you email to me I’ll enter your name in to win a cookbook. I’ll choose a random winner January 31st. So don’t forget to email me your tips. They may seem commonplace to you, but I promise they won’t be for me and maybe someone else out there.
(The winner is Stephanie, by the way) Thanks to all who entered!
Here's another: Don’t store your bananas in a bunch or in a fruit bowl with other fruits. Separate your bananas and place each in a different location. Bananas release gases which cause fruits (including other bananas) to ripen quickly. Separating them will keep them fresh longer.
When making a soup, sauce, or casserole that ends up too fatty or greasy, drop in an ice cube. The ice will attract the fat, which you can then scoop out!
