Game Summary: Lemon-Herbed Pot Roast vs Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding

And the winner is…

The Lemon-Herbed Pot Roast

Heidi was our reporter at this exciting game.  Heidi how did the game go down?

We hurried and did both recipes Friday night. Both of them were good but the clear winner was the Lemon herbed roast. We had company over and so I used a 4 lbs chuck roast and about 9 yukon gold potatoes since that was what I had on hand. I increased the broth and water to 1 1/2 c. There was not any left over! My 2 year old even had second helpings of the roast. My compay was an intern in a VET program in a small rural town about an hour from here. She said she has had a ton of meat and roasts since coming to Nebraska and this was by far the best she had tried and could she please have the recipe.

I doubled the bread pudding recipe and it was good. It didn’t have as strong of a pumpkin flavor as I would have liked and the chocolate chips sort of sank to the bottom so the top was not very chocolatey. I used fresh french bread and it didn’t soak up the liquid very well. After talking to a couple of friends it sounds like I should have probably used day old bread and it would have worked better.

On a side note, the lemon-herbed pot roast is my favorite way to make roast in the crockpot.  Flavorful, moist, and delicious!  Thanks for your report, Heidi!
