The Scoring Sheet |
And it all comes down to this.
The Final Four Recipes that were chosen by my lovely volunteers were the Chicken Cordon Bleu vs Chicken and Mushrooms and Cafe Rio Pork vs Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup. Want to know how the games went down?
First off I gave each of the judges a judging sheet. They were to judge solely on “likeliness of making it again” (worth 20 points) and “overall flavor” (worth 50 points). Since I was the one who made all four recipes I judged on “prep time/ease of ingredients” (worth 15 points) and “value $” (worth 15 points).
I believe that all four of these components are important to a good go-to slow cooker recipe. You want:
a. something that tastes good
b. your family to ask for it again
c. something that is inexpensive
d. something that you don’t have to slave in the kitchen for hours making
I had a total of 8 judges. They were taxed with the burden of trying all four recipes and deciding which one they liked the best. It was a hard job, but someone had to do it.
Here is how the score cards averaged out:

So the final two recipes were the Cordon Bleu and the Cafe Rio Pork.
When these two were matched up the score was…
Cordon Bleu 77.875 Cafe Rio Pork 80.625
So overall the Cafe Rio Pork took the competition!

But wait…I had the judges do one last thing before they left. Rank all four recipes 1 through 4 with a rating of how they compared. 1 being the best and 4 being the worst. When I added up these rankings the Cordon Bleu edged out the Cafe Rio Pork by ONE point!!!
So you be the judge…try them for yourself and decide which one you like the best!
p.s. I will add my own two cents on these games and the whole competition in another post. Believe me I have some opinions!
