Day 23: Beef and Mushrooms

3 pounds stew meat, cubed
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cans (4 oz each) mushrooms, with liquid
1/2 cup apple juice
1 envelope dry onion soup mix

Combine all ingredients in greased slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat 10 hours. Makes 4-6 servings. Serve over rice.

Review:

My husband sure appreciated this meal. Anything with red meat he loves ๐Ÿ™‚ I didn’t like it all that much. It seemed like too much sodium for me. Maybe if there was a low salt version of the soups it would have been a bit better. 2 stars.

Could you use fresh mushrooms instead of canned?

I have a porkchop crockpot recipe that is similar to todays post:

    4 half inch porkchops
1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup
half an envelope of onion soup mix

Cook on low 6 – 8 hours serve with mashed potatoes or rice. The soups make a wonderful gravy!

The original recip called for a whole pkg of onion soup mix, but like you, it was too salty for me. I cut back on that and I love it, so maybe you could do that with this beef recipe too. Love your blog by the way!
