Less than a week until Christmas everyone! Are you freaking out yet?
This year has been a great one for me. I love my life and my blog. I will have a big announcement in the new year, so stay posted for that.
But for now let’s do a fun giveaway. I spotted this cutest slow cooker ever and bought it because even though I don’t need it (I have 9 slow cookers, people) I knew that maybe one of you would. So if you want this cute slow cooker enter the contest.
To enter: All you have to do is go to this site, scroll down to 365 Days of Slow Cooking (around #22 right now), click “I like this”. After you do that (it takes 1 minute or less) come back to this post and leave me a comment about what gift you are most excited to give this Christmas.
The giveaway will end January 1, 2012. I will ship this to a U.S. address only. Thanks and good luck!

My Dad and I gave my mother a laptop. She's been saying for years she didn't really want one, but we decided to give her one anyway. It turned out that she loved it – stayed on it most of the day! She had only said she didn't want one because she thought it was too much money. My Dad and I were so glad to see how much she enjoyed it. She's the kind of Mom who always puts others before herself, so she really deserved this little indulgence!

The best thing we did for Christmas, was focusing on our kids instead of our HUGE extended family. Providing really well for them, and not worrying about trying to provide for 9 nieces and nephews, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 sisters-in-law and 1 bil, not to mention all the aunts, uncles and other cousins…meant so much to us this year. Happy New Year!
Ellie M. says
Well, I just found your blog today. Christmas has already passed, but what I was most excited about giving this year was actually three gifts to people we never met. To teach my kiddos a lesson in giving, I asked them each to select a name from the Angel Tree in our local mall. They thought long and hard about who they chose and what to give them. Knowing that we made two children's Christmas a little brighter, and one eldery man's Christmas a little warmer, has been a gift in itself.

I volunteer for Junior League and I was very excited to help a 6 year old girl with her shopping list. Our class was the only one responsible for her Christmas gifts, and she received everything she wanted! At work we also sponsored a family in need, and I wrote a check for them to get a few things on the list. Giving back this year made the loss of dear family friends ( to cancer) easier to deal with, and made me thankful for what I have.

Even though Christmas has already passed, I was most excited about giving the new main man in my life a zombie book all about the history of the un-dead. Yes, I am aware zombies and un-dead do not exist, however, through a series of strange events, it was the show The Walking Dead, that brought my boyfriend and I together. Strange? Yes, but after our first couple dates, we really had no chemistry and no interest in each other, but all of a sudden, when we both discovered that we like the show, we had something in common and things grew from there. So silly, but such a fun and actual meaningful gift that I got to give this year.
P.S. Thanks for your recipes. They are so great and delish!

I love your blog! The first recipe I tried was the Zuppa Toscana. Delicious, I have been asked for the recipe so many times. Tonight, it is Asian Lime Chicken. I only saw this contest for the slow cooker I must have, today–after Christmas. But the gift I was most excited to give was time with my family after a crazy semester for my husband and me who can now spend some quality time together and our 7 year old daughter. We have been able to spend time playing together which has been the best gift of all.
I could really use this slow cooker as mine is about to give up the ghost. She's not what she used to be! Not to mention a way to hold the lid in place while traveling, I have sloshed a lot of soup out of mine in the cooler I transport it in! With both of us in school full time and working, I would be lost without my slow cooker! Please pick me.

It wasn't easy getting them as they are not widely sold in stores, but I got them online. He did not ask for them, so I know he was thrilled to open up the gift bags and see them there. He loves them!

I liked you on Babble.
I had two gifts that I was excited to give.
1. My seventeen year old daughter asked for a new NIV Bible, and a journal. I was able to find a great compact NIV Bible in a soft, purple, with matching journal! She LOVED it!
2. I made homemade Vanilla beans (started in April 2011.) It was deeply flavored, and smelled wonderful, and I was so excited to give it. I printed a label on fabric (first time for me) and it turned out so cute!

The gift I was most excited about giving this year was a T.V. for my husband. This Christmas was the first year my husband and I have been employed and in our own house since getting married two and half years ago… after being married for 4 months, the business cut his position and we moved back across the nation to live with my parents. Last year we were cut the day before Thanksgiving due to budget cuts and once again had to move in with family. This year, gainfully employed, I wanted to give my husband a gift to help him create his own "man cave", a dream he's had since before we got married. Needless to say, he was ecstatic!!!

You're up to number 14 now! 😀 I was most excited to give my husband some fishing gear. I personally am not a fan of fishing or fish, but he's really excited that we just moved close to his brother and grandparents-all of whom love fishing and go out regularly together. He was thrilled to get the gear I got him, and was sure to let his family know that he's prepared for next year!

I was most excited about giving the 85 pounds of peanut butter and cases of tuna to the food bank in our community. That way I know that some people who are really needing it get fed. Our family is blessed and the joy of Christmas here is pooling our cash for those in need rather than buying one another gifts.

While it has already happened, we were most excited about participating in the Christmas store in our community. This store allows families in need to select a coat, clothing, book and toy for the children in their household for free. The family gets a portrait made, the kids are entertained while a personal shopper helps the parent(s) pick out new gifts donated by the community, then while we wrap the gifts they sit back and enjoy Christmas snacks. My whole family – all 5 of us – volunteered. It was an amazing day. We already are looking forward to doing it again next Christmas.
Kelly Wilkinson says
I'm most excited to give my mom a charm bracelet. We lost my Grandfather this year (a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam). He was a naval aviator and it will have an anchor on it in his honor.
Kathy with a K says
My first most fun gifts were, using the charity World Vision, we gave goats, sheep and/or chickens to families in third-world countries in honor of each of our family members instead of giving more "stuff". My second was to make scarves and fabric brooches for my chemo nurses, daughter and granddaughter. They were SO much fun to make.
Nicki says
We're meeting with my Brother-in-law and his new wife this week (after Christmas) to exchange gifts and we got them a Pampered Chef Large Bar Pan stone. Tyler has been drooling over mine for the last 6 months and just amazed at the even cooking and similarities of "brick oven style" cooking. Can't WAIT to give them their own!

I gave my 3-year-old niece (and namesake) a "tiwahwah" (tiara), Belle doll, and yellow princess gown — all things she'd wished for. She was SO excited! She pulled the princess gown on top of her pajamas and wore the tiara while she unwrapped other gifts.
I love cooking for my extended family, and this lovely crockpot would be a great help!

I was excited to give my family some new shoes, esp my Papa (grandfather). He always talks about how fast he goes through shoes (probably because he buys cheap ones). So I took him and my mom out to get some new shoes. He had a fit when he saw the price but hopefully they'll last longer than the ones he buys…I hope.

I took an envelope addressed to my aunt from her mom (my grandma) and enlarged it into a piece of framed artwork. It is her beautiful flowing handwriting that we all recognize. My grandma passed away almost 10 years ago and my aunt still misses her dearly. With technology today, handwriting is slowly becoming obsolete. Every time my aunt sees that writing it will remind her of the beauty of my grandma.

You are number 15 now!! The gift I was most excited about was helping a fellow coworker in need. A whole group of us decided that instead of exchanging gifts we would put the money we would spend doing this to help a coworker in another dept. have a nice Christmas. You see, she is a single mom with two small children and is having some health problems that even made her have to go to part time. We ended up being able to give her a sizable amount of money that she used to get Christmas for her kids. It was a heartwarming experience and one we decided to do yearly for someone in need.

I'm most happy about the gifts we are giving my nephew and his wife. He has been out of work for quite a while and is down and sad this holiday. We've decided to send them a food gift each month for the next few months to help out: Naumes Pears last month (Naumes gives 1 lb. of fruit to charity for every lb. you buy.), an unexpected treat from Omaha Steaks this month, another healthy food surprise next month, and so on. Taking care of my whole family is very important to me…especially at Christmas.

I gave an anonymous donation of cash to a family who recently traveled to Ethiopia to adopt three young siblings. The three came "home" to join four siblings: two biological and two "chosen" children, for a total of seven. I have never felt more "goodness" in my heart than when I get to help others. Lori P.

I gave an anonymous gift to a family who recently traveled to Ethiopia to adopt three adorable children. They now have two biological children and five "chosen" youngsters in their family. The husband's job has been cut to part time, so money is stretched thin. It is so much more gratifying to give than to receive. Lori P.
