Mortons Steakhouse Chicken Christopher

Mortons Steakhouse Chicken Christopher

This chicken was a big hit at our house. The outside gets nice and crispy in the air fryer while the inside stays juicy. The buttery garlic lemon sauce is what really puts it over the top. It’s a fancy chicken dish that you’ll love to eat alongside mashed or baked potatoes. I used my air fryer instead of pan frying the chicken to make it a little healthier. I love my air fryer*! (This recipe is adapted from Morton’s Steakhouse Chicken Christopher on North East Nosh Recipes.)

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • All-purpose flour
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • Boneless skinless chicken thighs–or boneless skinless chicken breasts (adjust cooking time)
  • Egg
  • Panko breadcrumbs–or regular breadcrumbs (panko gives the crispiest texture)
  • Butter
  • Garlic cloves–or minced jarred garlic
  • Chicken broth
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Heavy cream–or half-and-half, evaporated milk

Steps

Grab 3 shallow bowls. Fill one with flour, another with beaten egg and the last with panko.

Combine garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a bowl. Season the chicken evenly with the mixture.

Coat each chicken thigh in flour, dip it into the egg and then coat it in the panko.

Preheat an air fryer to 380° F. Melt 2 Tbsp of butter. Place the chicken pieces in the air fryer and drizzle the butter over the top of the chicken. Air fry for 16 minutes.

While chicken is cooking make a sauce on the stove. Heat a small pan over medium heat. Add in the remaining 2 Tbsp of butter and let it melt. Add in the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Stir in the broth and lemon juice and simmer for 2 minutes. Add in the heavy cream and pinch of salt and stir. Remove from heat.

Place the chicken thighs on a serving platter and drizzle with the garlic lemon sauce. Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, buttered noodles or roasted potatoes. A green veggie like broccoli or green beans goes well with this chicken too.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the sauce the best flavor.
  • I used my Instant brand air fryer*. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed so the chicken stays crispy.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat the chicken in the air fryer for 3–5 minutes to help restore the crispy coating.
  • Other recipes you can make with panko are Daddy’s Comfort Casserole and Miss Congeniality Casserole.
