Recipe for Slow Cooker Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps with Sriracha {gluten free}

This is a light, flavorful and easy Asian ground turkey lettuce wrap (gluten free) recipe that is perfect for summer.  The ground turkey is browned in the crockpot and marinates with all the yummy Asian flavors.  The crunchy lettuce, cabbage and carrots pair well with the meat.  Top with a couple of drops of sriracha for a healthy summer meal that will leave your taste buds satisfied.

Recipe for Slow Cooker Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps with Sriracha {gluten free}
Makes 4 servings
Ideal slow cooker size:  3 quart
Cooking time:  3 hours 

1 lb lean ground turkey
2 Tbsp minced red onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
2 tsp soy sauce (gluten free)
1 Tbsp rice vinegar
1 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp minced fresh ginger
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 carrot, grated
8 washed romaine lettuce leaves
Sriracha sauce, for serving


1.  Crumble the ground turkey into the slow cooker.  Add in the onion, garlic, Chinese 5 Spice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar and ginger into the slow cooker.  Stir all together.
2.  Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 hours or on LOW for 6 hours.  Remove lid and use a spoon to break up the meat.
3.  Add in the cabbage and the carrot.
4.  Place Romaine leaves on a plate and scoop 1/8 of the meat mixture onto each of the lettuce leaves. Drop a very small amount of sriracha onto each lettuce wrap (you can always add more later if you like more heat).  Serve and eat like a taco.
