3 cups water
1 cup sugar
10 slices fresh ginger
2 whole cinnamon sticks
6 Bartlett pears, peeled and cored
Combine water, sugar, ginger and cinnamon in 6 quart slow cooker. Add pears. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours or on HIGH for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Remove pears. Cook syrup, uncovered, 30 minutes or until thickened. Drizzle pears with syrup and serve. Makes 6 servings.

I was not expecting to like this dessert. I ended up only cooking one pear. However, I was pleasantly surprised and quite enjoyed this light and healthy dessert. 3 stars
